RestoreAL helps Alabamians access the information and resources they need to understand their government, participate in public decisions, and shape the future of our state. Alabamians deserve a transparent government and a meaningful role in the decisions that affect their lives and livelihoods. Too often, public information is difficult to find, government processes are hard to follow, and opportunities to participate are limited. RestoreAL works to close that gap.
Our work begins with information. We explain how Alabama’s government operates and examine the issues facing the Legislature, Governor, courts, and state agencies. Through articles, analysis, and tools such as our Legislative Atlas, we help Alabamians understand what their government is doing and why it matters.
Information alone, however, is not enough. People also need practical ways to engage with the institutions that represent them. RestoreAL works to develop resources that help Alabamians navigate public processes, communicate with public officials, and make their voices heard. Our goal is to lower the barriers to participation and strengthen the people’s ability to govern themselves.
We believe ordinary Alabamians should have a meaningful role in shaping public decisions and holding their government accountable. By making government more understandable and participation more accessible, RestoreAL seeks to help build a more transparent, accountable, and responsive Alabama.
